Calling features questions

This feature allows you to block calls from up to 31 numbers. Calls on your Selective Call Rejection list will be intercepted and the caller will hear a pre-recorded message. All other calls are handled normally.

This feature allows you to reject calls from callers who have chosen to keep their name and/or number private.

Selective Call Rejection – allows you to block calls from up to 31 numbers.

  1. Lift the handset and check for the dial tone.
  2. Press *60 (rotary dial 1160).
  3. Follow the instructions provided by the recorded message.

Anonymous Caller Rejection – rejects calls from callers who have chosen to keep their name and/or number private.

  1. Lift the handset and check for the dial tone.
  2. Press *77 (rotary dial 1177).
  3. You will hear a double tone confirmation.
  4. Hang up.
    How to cancel:
  5. Lift the handset and check for the dial tone.
  6. Press *87 (rotary dial 1187).
  7. You will hear a double tone confirmation.
  8. Hang up.

Voice mail questions

From your home phone (not your cell phone): Portales residents dial *83. All other users dial *98.

For remote access (away from home or from your cell phone) Portales residents dial 575-226-6244. All other users dial 575-276-6245.

Cooperative subscribers can access voicemail from home by dialing *98
Portales subscribers can access voicemail from home by dialing *83
Follow the prompts to create a password and personalized greeting.

Your mailbox number is your ten (10) digit phone number. Your default password is the last four (4) digits of your phone number.

A stutter dial tone (a steady beeping tone similar to a busy signal) will alert you that a message is waiting.

Dial *99
From home – Enter your password, then press #
Away from home – Enter your seven digit phone number, then press #.
Messages will start playing automatically. Listen for prompts to replay, keep, delete, or save messages.

Voice Mail options may be changed any time, from any phone. Access your mailbox, the press 9 to enter the Set-up menu. Follow voice prompts to change your password or greeting.
